I don't agree with being trans, but that doesn't mean they don't have a right to. People don't agree with Christianity and I'm Christian. We all have a choice. Do I think it's stupid, yes but that doesn't change the rights they have as human beings.

 @9H8J8TLRepublican from California commented…5mos5MO

christian or not, its mental illness. maybe its a right but its also something in there head one day that is telling them that the skin on their body isnt the right one. as a born female, i would have to be going through a mental health crisis to one day just want to take on the traditional role as a male. they can do whatever they want but should be mentally at peace to make those decisions.

 @9H7RVCD from New York answered…5mos5MO

I personally think preserving Traditional values doesn't impact being trans. But trans people. We've turned our country against itself to be honest. We have a month for LGBTQ+ but not straights. And if I ask a member of that movement they say "Every other month is straight and we're oppressed"... So y'know, it's cool if your trans. But don't make it a symbol of oppression and power. That's not what gender should have ever been.

 @9H8PTNG from Virginia answered…5mos5MO

It's a psychological distress and people's freedom to do whatever they want with their body. It shouldn't bother others what a person is deciding with their body.

 @9H7QKSKGreen from Virginia answered…5mos5MO

Traditional values mean nothing at the end of the day and at the end of your life, let others live their lives

 @9H97WZWDemocrat from Kansas answered…5mos5MO

In my opinion, everyone is equal. Everyone was born the same. Religion, race, or gender shouldn’t be used to judge a person. But at the same time, some people value their opinions and traditional values. We should not only just promote equality, but also promote tolerance and peace. Eventually, people will learn to value and respect each other. Someday.

 @9H85P6Y from California answered…5mos5MO

I don't care it's their choice in life and it's whatever makes them feel better as a person, it shouldn't be a choice to support someone or not whether they make their life differently than yours.

 @9H7S4H3Republican from Florida answered…5mos5MO

Even though you have your beliefs you can still show respect to other people and how they live their life even if you don't agree with it personally.

 @9H923SJ from Texas answered…5mos5MO

Traditional values can easily be preserved while accepting transgender people. It does not justify mental health impacts and it should be presented in a more peaceful way and also everyone can mind their own business and not let others affect their peace.

 @9H7XM72Republican from California answered…5mos5MO

I think gender changing shouldn't be a trend and if people really feel that way then fine but you have to be an adult.

 @9H7PH2Y from South Carolina answered…5mos5MO

I think there is a girl and a boy. nothing more and nothing less. you are born into you gender and you cannot change it.

 @9H8V55V from Illinois answered…5mos5MO

I think that there is no reason to attack specific individuals for how they identify, but also people should wait until they’re older to know if they are transgender so they don't make any irreversible changes to their body that they could regret later, and in the topic of sports i don't think that transgender women should compete in cisgender women’s sports because they have a biological advantage

 @9H83QPC from Nevada answered…5mos5MO

Everyone has the right to express the gender they are comfortable in and should feel comfortable transitioning, they should not be judged no matter what.

 @9H7SMZM from Illinois answered…5mos5MO

i think that while it doesnt have an impact on trans people (as a trans person) it only impacts them if they let it. respect others beliefs. if they dont respect you then you dont have to respect them or even talk to them, just respect their beliefs and call it a day. nobody is asking you to be their friend, so dont make a big deal about it. you will only worsen your own mental health if you worry about what others think.

 @9HBSN67Independent from Indiana answered…5mos5MO

No. We as a society can only hold on to traditional societal values. The world changes, and time goes on. We aren't stuck In the 50's or 20's anymore. If any progress or growth is possible, change In people's minds must accept and deal with the change as well

 @9H8WRPS from Georgia answered…5mos5MO

No. There is no reason to preserve traditional values anyways. Society is a construct, just like gender is. Traditional values are not the only right way to live, civilizations have thrived without the western traditional values for centuries. I think it is detrimental to enforce them just because some people can’t comprehend that social norms are not law and the certainly not natural, they are all made up.

 @9H9RTRP from Tennessee answered…5mos5MO

No because everyone can have their own opinions and you shouldn't be depressed because someone disagrees with you.

 @9HBS94R from California answered…5mos5MO

No it does not. Transgender individuals are people too and traditional values do not supersede their individual rights and liberties.

 @9H7QP5G from Oklahoma answered…5mos5MO

Yes. Transgenders have some the highest suicide rates irrespective of whether they have had procedures performed. They need treatment, and abandoning traditional values isn't the answer to the problem.

 @9H7TFPRLibertarian from Utah answered…5mos5MO

most of these "trans" kids come from either broken families or extremist parents in the sense of not letting kids have a childhood, a kid could say look daddy i'm a cowboy while being a girl, but that doesn't make them at 7 transgender means they want to play not mutilate their bodies.

 @9H7YDW3 from Illinois answered…5mos5MO

No, preserving conservative or "traditional values" is not worth wrecking anybodies mental health

 @9H7VRH9Women’s Equalityanswered…5mos5MO

Absolutely. Transgender people are still people that have opinions and rights, regardless of gender or sex.

 @9H8PWQHRepublican from Nebraska answered…5mos5MO

I understand that it could affect someone mentally if they are always being rejected by society.

 @9H7WFJSWomen’s Equality from Utah answered…5mos5MO

I believe that everyone should be able to think freely and be comfortable in their own body. It is the persons body and it is the persons choice. If they don’t feel comfortable in their own body then they should do everything they need to feel comfortable.

 @9HBN5D6 from Indiana answered…5mos5MO

I do not agree with being trans, but I don’t believe that we should be allowed to restrict people of who they want to be and what they want to do. I don’t understand what I feels like to want to express myself that way so why should I have the right to tell them what they should and shouldn’t do?

 @9H8ZGZ5 from Michigan answered…5mos5MO

Yes, they chose to stray away from traditional values so it's not our fault what there mental health is.

 @9H8Z39C from California answered…5mos5MO

There are two main sources of the documented mental health disparities transgender people face: gender dysphoria and anti-transgender bias

 @9H87ZKL from North Carolina answered…5mos5MO

Preserving traditional values does not justify possible mental health impacts on transgender individuals because those mental health impacts can lead to self-harm, suicide, and other consequences, whose cost is not worth the "sense of normalcy" that "traditional values" provide.

 @9H89L9Y from Arizona answered…5mos5MO

No, the lives and safety of people should be put ahead of the values of older times

 @9H7NS2MRepublican from Arkansas answered…5mos5MO

I think that if someone wants to be trans they can because they have the choice to do that

 @9H8QHMX  from South Carolina answered…5mos5MO

Transgender identity should not be recognized or taken into consideration by any government body. It's self-contradictory, malignant, and harmful to all parties involved.

 @9H84VDL from Nebraska answered…5mos5MO

Yes. All people in the United States receive the same privileges and rights. Transgender people should not be more included than anyone else. Any responsibility involving being transgender should fall on that person and nobody else. Moreover, I believe that no laws on acceptance should be put in place. I will not change how I treat people to account for someone's mental illness- being transgender.

 @9H8J8TLRepublican from California answered…5mos5MO

yes. there are two genders and implying traditional values creates traditional men and women. transgender is a mental illness and is for people whoa rent comfortable in there own skin and have been manipulated into thinking of these untraditional acts. god made us who he wanted us to be and if he wanted you to be a boy he would make you a boy.

Everyone has the right to express their gender in any way that they want. If they want gender-affirming surgery, by all means, I believe that they have the right to do anything they want with their body. However, one thing that I do agree on is that those who have gender-affirming surgeries should be talked through the procedures, the cons and the pros, what will happen to their bodies, and anything that could affect them for life. These "traditional" values are nothing more than people who are insecure in their own bodies and their life.

 @9H8B8TR from Missouri answered…5mos5MO

Traditional values are important because being mentally ill is a trend now. Gone are the days when you got what you got and you were stuck with it. Now people can pick whatever aspect of their life they dont like and change it however they like.

 @9H8QNW7 from Missouri answered…5mos5MO

As a transgender person myself, it impacts us greatly. The inability to have access to the healthcare we need for the "sake of tradition" is utterly ridiculous and overtly harmful. If there was more accessible healthcare for us and more understanding and open mindedness there would be a great improvement in transgender mental health. It is not your body, and it has nothing to do with you. We are not hurting anyone, nor do we want to.

 @9H7JMSVWomen’s Equality from Michigan answered…5mos5MO

Transgender no people are no different than cis-gender people and should openly be accepted into society.

 @9H8BRSN from California answered…5mos5MO

YES. I refuse to watch another trans youth die and take their life because people are so bigoted that they won’t let them express themselves

 @9H96Q8W from Texas answered…5mos5MO

In my opinion, people can do what they desire because we live in a free country, but everyone deserves equal respect including those people who do not support transgender acts. There should be a level of respect amongst people no matter their beliefs, their race, or whatever they may do with their bodies because at the end of the day we live in a free country and everyone desires respect.

 @9H86J4Z from California answered…5mos5MO

Transgender should not be expressed or even a thing. They are making up a gender which they aren't so it shouldn't even be a debate, they are flat out lying to themselves and others.

 @9H7YLVC from Texas answered…5mos5MO

These "traditional" values are the correct values. there are only 2 genders, male and female. you are born as one of these which means you stay one of these for life. so people who are surprised that they are not as accepted as they think the should shouldnt be surprised

 @9H7PNW2 from South Carolina answered…5mos5MO

I think that being transgender is cause by underlying problems and lack of self confidence the only reason somebody would change their gender is because they arent happy in themselves.

 @9H8GXG2 from Texas answered…5mos5MO

What happens in the bedroom is none of the governments business. What happens in the bedroom needs to stay in the bedroom and not invade the classrooms of k5 children.

 @9HBXHW4 from California answered…5mos5MO

Preserving traditional values certainly justifies possible mental health impacts on transgender individuals, because those values are usually always against transgender rights, which would surely have a negative impact.

 @9H8VJZR from Georgia answered…5mos5MO

Anti-Transgender is about males and females to values the mental health impacts the transgender individuals.

 @9H92L8W from Idaho answered…5mos5MO

I don't think we should cater to people who are intentionally changing themselves, however I do believe everyone should be treated with respect

 @9H8H6WS from California answered…5mos5MO

Preserving traditional values is important to some people but so is prioritizing the mental health of transgenders. What impacts them the most is when they face rejection or lack of acceptance.

 @9H87XN7 from Utah answered…5mos5MO

Well not to be rude but they have a mental health issue already and they need help feeding into their thing won't help it will make things worse so preserving traditional things is what is needed

 @9H7ZPWJSocialist from California answered…5mos5MO

Not at all an individual should be allowed to express their gender as they wish and people should respect it. But gender-affirming surgery should only be performed on adults after psychological evaluation.
