What's a real-life example of overcoming a barrier that you've seen in your school or community, and what was the outcome?

 @9LDY6ZM from Pennsylvania answered…1mo1MO

One real-life example of overcoming a barrier related to social reformism that I've seen in a school or community context is the implementation of inclusive policies and initiatives to support LGBTQ+ students.

In many schools and communities, LGBTQ+ students have historically faced discrimination, bullying, and exclusion, leading to negative mental health outcomes and academic challenges. However, in response to advocacy efforts by students, parents, educators, and community members, many schools and communities have taken steps to address these barriers and promote inclusion and acceptance. Am not supporting to them in other words but they should treated with positivity.

Kids always forgetting stuff in their lockers or using it as an excuse to leave class. The school banned lockers and kids have to carry their stuff around everywhere.

How has the current state of healthcare affected your views on social reform?

 @9J24FP5Democrat from Illinois answered…4mos4MO

It has made me realize that we need more free public health care as people cannot afford it.

 @9J2XKDPagreed…4mos4MO

You see a lot of kids and older people not getting the medicine they need because they cant afford it.

Insurance is ruining the healthcare industry. It has made healthcare too expensive for those who can't afford it

 @9J2W5KWDemocrat from Kentucky disagreed…4mos4MO

It has not ruined the healthcare industry, if someone can't afford insurance the government could lower the price for those who are unable to afford it.

How would you feel if your future was determined by a lottery system instead of merit?

 @9J5QR3J from South Carolina answered…4mos4MO

 @9J5R6KD from Michigan answered…4mos4MO

I would hate that, lottery is pure luck and compared to everyone who plays hardly anyone wins I would hate for my life to be purely based on chances.

What do you consider to be the most significant barrier to higher education, and how should it be addressed?

 @9JHG6P9Libertarian from California answered…4mos4MO

Class. The system is good but base student loans off major.

 @9JHRMF5 from Maryland agreed…4mos4MO

I believe that student loans put students who may be less fortunate into debt they will be paying off for the rest of their lives and act as a disincentive to students.

 @9JHG4SZ from New Jersey answered…4mos4MO

Cost. Also, trade schools should be promoted more as viable secondary education.

 @9JHG3QK  from Georgia answered…4mos4MO

I don't believe that barriers to higher education need to be addressed. I think it would be better if we stopped pushing higher education in the traditional sense and return to teaching trades.

 @9J253NPRepublican from Michigan answered…4mos4MO

yeah i see it. There are some kids wearing all name brand clothing showing off their clothes and phones and some kids have clothes with holes in them and wearing the same things a lot.

 @9J278KP  from Illinois answered…4mos4MO

I have. I grew up in south Berwyn Illinois, which is the better side compared to North Berwyn. Despite this, throughout my middle and Freshman-Sophomore high school career, I saw what the differences were between my life and others. My family has always been on the edge of middle class, I remember when my Dad lost his job and food began to be a problem for a year being the worst financial strain on my family. Then, when I moved out into Villa Park after a divorce, I went to the first ever school in my memory with a white majority. I also saw the blatant Injustices in both schools that I won't go too deep into, but reflects the inequity that has plagued this nation since it's birth.

 @9J253V2 from Illinois answered…4mos4MO

yes, our teachers have been racist, making kids have detentions and suspensions

 @9K7TJWD from Texas answered…3mos3MO

I think that economic struggle would be lifted and materialistic ideals would not be as common.

 @9HMSG6Q from California answered…5mos5MO

People wouldn't create problems that don't exist. People would understand that things are as they are and its easier if you don't make things more difficult than they have to be.

 @9HMSFJB from Hawaii answered…5mos5MO

What's one stereotype you wish could be changed, and how might that affect society?

 @9J25XB6 from Florida answered…4mos4MO

People's definitive assessment and judgment of someone based solely on their appearance and stereotype associated with their appearance.

 @9J2533T from Connecticut answered…4mos4MO

One example of stereotype threat comes from a study by Spencer, Steele, and Quinn. The researchers found that women did not perform as well as men on a math test, when they were told there was a difference in outcomes based on gender.

Can you name a small act in your community that contributed to a larger social change?

 @9K9KLKZ from Maryland answered…3mos3MO

Social reform is a reshaping or reforming of culturally accepted laws and norms in light of new cultural paradigms that occur over time. Social reform can occur at local, regional, national, or global levels.

 @9K9HZ5SLibertarian from Florida answered…3mos3MO

There isn’t one that I know of, but I would say that reformism is a noble aspect to have in a society.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…2mos2MO

When have you had to make a tough choice due to economic constraints, and how did it feel?

 @9L63MQS from Utah answered…2mos2MO

I don't like how inflated all the prices have gotten. Its really annoying

 @9L63LM2Libertarian from Utah answered…2mos2MO

As a part of the lower middle class, choosing a college has been particularly tough. Since I'm in the middle class I don't qualify for much government aid, but since I'm lower middle class I have to rely on scholarships and grants.
